聚苯硫醚(PPS)于1973年由美国Phillips石油公司 商业化生产。由于树脂的高耐热性，需求增加。然而，由于其部分交联结构，这种材料后来被称为脆性材料。
在20世纪80年代，吴羽成功开发出一种完全线性分子结构的无任何交联结构的PPS。1987年，我们公司与吴羽成立了商业联盟，开始了这种新型PPS的市场开发。线性聚苯乙烯改变了现有的交联聚苯乙烯的形象，为一种不存在脆性问题的新型聚苯乙烯奠定了坚实的基础。
